HP have made a serious attempt to crack the ultrabook market with their latest addition to their range the Evny 14 Spectre, it offers plenty of features and a whole range options for the buyer to choose from, making this a very interesting laptop indeed. There are so many features to talk about that we had better just go straight into what the Envy 14 Spectre has to offer.
The HP Envy comes with a nice 14 inch diagonal high definition+ Radiance LED back lit display that fits into a 13.3 inch body and it even manages to fit an HP TrueVision HD web camera (Skype HD capable). Press the on the button and the Intel Rapid Start Technology springs into action, with a choice of either the Intel Core i5 or the i7 ULV Processors and the graphics are provided through the Intel HD graphics cards, the envy also supports the performance-tuned software image for faster boot and wake up times.
Because this is a slim machine HP have opted for a solid state drive (SSD), the buyer gets to choose from the 128 GB or 256 GB mSATA and the memory comes in either a 4 GB or 8 GB of DDR3 RAM. Just as important to any other feature is networking, this machine uses the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 + Bluetooth (2×2 Wi-Fi). As expected, this Envy has some serious sounds too, with the Beats Audio system high performance speakers and subwoofer system.
Connectivity is essential these days so the Envy has a Mini DisplayPort, a superfast USB 3.0 port and a microphone-in, headphone stereo-out jack combo. Other features in the HP Radiance back lit keyboard that gradually lights up every row and a Multi-touch enabled HP Imagepad for precise interaction. HP claims that the Envy has a long lasting battery offering up to 9 hours of use. Size wise the Envy is 12.88 inches (W) x 8.7 inches (D) x 0.79 inches (H) and it is said to weigh in at less than four pounds, depending on set up.
The HP Envy 14 Spectre is due to hit the stores next month and will have a starting price of around $1,400!
